Meet Dr. Will Akin
Dr. Will Akin was born and raised in Nashville, TN. With a dentist for a father and a dental hygienist for a mother, the world of dentistry was all around him. After graduating from Montgomery Bell Academy, Dr. Akin attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He then attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis, TN. After graduating from Dental School, Dr. Akin continued his education with a Residency in Periodontology at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. During his 3-year residency, he trained and developed his surgical proficiency in Soft Tissue Management and the placement of Dental Implants. After completing his residency, he returned to Nashville to join the Nashville Periodontal Group. Dr. Akin has also achieved the status of a Board Certified Diplomate with the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Akin has a great passion for continuing education attending yearly courses and meetings, while studying the most current literature to make sure that the treatments rendered at NPG remain on the cutting edge. A lover of dental photography, Dr. Akin documents every patient’s case so that he can analyze every case to the fullest extent. While he is member of multiple dental study clubs, he currently is the Director of the Nashville ITI Implant Study Club. The ITI (International Team for Implantology) is a worldwide network dedicated to furthering the field of Implant Dentistry amongst all dental professionals. Dr. Akin also serves on the American Academy of Periodontology’s National Task Force for Consumer Awareness.
Dr. Akin, his wife, Whitney, and their Labrador, Lorelai, live in Nashville where they attend Covenant Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, Dr. Akin has a vast enthusiasm for music and playing guitar.
