Meet Dr. Brian West
Dr. Brian West is a native of North Mississippi. His desire to be a dentist extends back to his childhood. His exposure to dentistry came early with multiple family role models. Two uncles were dentists and his older sister was a dental hygienist who taught at the dental school. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1985. He then attended the University of Mississippi where he pursued degrees in both Biology and English. Dr. West left Ole Miss to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. It was while at dental school, that he was exposed to the speciality of periodontics. Showing great propensity in the field, he won the Dental College’s President’s award in periodontics for excellence in periodontics as a dental student. During his time in Dental school, he served as President of the Student Government and multiple other offices. He graduated from dental school in 1993. Upon completing his Dental degree, he continued his training, receiving his specialist certificate in Periodontics in 1995 from UAB School of Dentistry.
Dr. West began his career in Periodontics in 1995, joining the Nashville Periodontal Group, where he continues to serve today. He is active in various organizations, including his church, the boy scouts, and other professional organizations. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Southern Academy of Periodontology, Nashville Dental Society, and various local dental study clubs. He serves presently as an officer in the Southern Academy of Periodontology, as well as the Nashville Dental Society. Dr. West has served as Chairman of the Board of the Interfaith Dental Clinic in Nashville, a charity clinic for the working poor, where he volunteers his time and expertise to this day.
Dr. West has been married for over twenty years to his wife Joanna. They have and two children, a daughter Rachel, and a son William. They live in Brentwood, Tennessee, where their children attend school.
